Colorado State University Emergency Management is a unit of the CSU Police Department. The primary function of this unit is to plan and coordinate university mitigation, preparedness, response to, and recovery from natural and man-made disasters occurring on or near CSU campuses. This work is a cooperative effort among all aspects, departments, and divisions of the university including police, academics, student government, Facilities Management, Athletics, and local fire, law enforcement, and public safety agencies.

Charged with the responsibility to facilitate emergency management activities on university campuses, this unit works with numerous university departments and community partners community to ensure an effective and efficient emergency response for situations affecting the university and its affiliates. Every day the Emergency Management unit and partners strive to provide the highest quality of service possible to our customers: the students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and visitors of Colorado State University.

These goals are accomplished by working across department lines to coordinate the efforts of all those involved in maintaining a safe university environment, which is guided by the University Emergency Response Plan

Collaboration and preparation of all first responders, units of the University and units of local, state and federal government are critical for a coordinated response to any potential threat to a university campus.
