Moving Violation Citations (TEEP)

You have 14 calendar days from the date the ticket was issued to pay the violation fine. The fine can be paid in person, by mail, over the phone or billed to your student account. If paying by mail, send check or money order only. Do not send cash.

We will not accept ticket payment in loose coins.

Failure to pay the ticket will result in the fine doubling. Delinquent faculty and staff fines will be doubled and deducted from responsible employee’s paycheck. Delinquent student fines will be doubled and billed to student account. Delinquent non-affiliate fines will be doubled and sent to CSU Accounts Receivable.

Appeals – Bicycle Citation

  1. A written appeal must be filed to the TEEP Coordinator within 14 calendar days of issuance of the Bicycle Violation Notice. Initiation of an appeal stays the penalty until ruling is made, an Appeals Board will consider the written appeal and information on the notice, including written comments by the officer, and make a decision to uphold the charge or dismiss the notice. Written appeals will be considered during the next scheduled appeals session, The person appealing will be notified of the decision by mail.
  2. CSU Police Department allows only one appeal per citation. The appeal board’s ruling is final. A hearing fee of $15 will be assessed by the hearing referee for each citation that is upheld in the hearing process. This fee will be assessed in addition to the amount of the fine for the violation.
  3. If fine and/or fees are found due as a result of the appeal process they must be paid at CSUPD by the payment due date provided on the notice of appeals results. Any unpaid fines and/or fees following the due date will be doubled and forwarded to Colorado State University Accounting Services for collections.

Appeals – Bicycle Impound

Impoundment appeals are handled in the same manner as Bicycle Violation Notice appeals. A bicycle owner may make a written appeal to recover any fees that were charged as a result of his or her bicycle being impounded. To be able to file an appeal, fees and fines must be paid prior to the bicycle being released.

Substance Abuse Citation

Our primary responsibility, as a state certified police department, is the protection of life and property and the promotion of a safe environment within the CSU community. The enforcement of substance abuse on University property is another tool to enable CSUPD to better serve the University community.

Since substance abuse violations are the proximate cause of many serious incidents and injuries, it is beneficial to both the University and general community’s safety to address substance abuse violations. The high incidence of substance abuse on and around the University makes substance abuse enforcement desirable to prevent injuries and decrease property loss.

You have 14 calendar days to take care of the violation notice in one of the two ways described on the front of this summons. If you do not take care of the violation within 14 calendar days, the restitution will double and
the option to appeal will no longer be available.

Delinquent faculty, staff and non-affiliated restitutions will be doubled and sent to Accounts Receivable for collection.

Delinquent student restitutions will be doubled and sent to CSU Accounts Receivable for collection and/or may subject the student to denial of registration, transcripts, and diplomas.

Payment of a restitution by an insufficient funds check will result in an additional $20 charge being assessed.

Payment can be made in person by cash, check, and money order or by debit or credit card.

Payment must be made in bankable currency; no loose coins. If paying by mail, send check or money order only.

Do not send cash. Please write the citation number on the check and make checks payable to CSUPD and send them to:
