VIN – or vehicle identification number – certifications are required by state regulations in a variety of situations to ensure that a vehicle is not stolen or pieced together from stolen parts.

Finding a certified resource for VIN checks can be challenging when you’re registering a vehicle, motorcycle or boat in Colorado from another state, or when required to show verification by the County Clerk’s office.

Colorado State University Police Department is expanding its VIN certification services, and now offers certifications the first and third Thursdays of the month from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. by appointment only; walk-ins are not accepted.

VIN certifications are $50 and take approximately an hour to complete.
