As a Colorado State University Peace Officer or CSUPD employee, I will actively seek out and listen to the needs and concerns of my university community.

I will strive to always carry out my duties skillfully, judiciously, and with compassion and to treat every individual with whom I interact with courtesy. I recognize that each interaction is a separate and unique situation, and I will make decisions in light of what is right, rather than what is expedient in a given situation.

I will prevent crime whenever I can, for the absence of crime and disorder is preferable to the visible evidence of police action in dealing with crime.

I will respect the humanity of those whom I encounter, both victim and suspect alike. I will remember that I do not police an act or behavior, but a human being, whose conduct may jeopardize their own future as well as others. I will not use race, color, nationality, age, sexual orientation, gender, disability or religion as justification for contacting an individual or for taking enforcement action against them.

I will remember that my calling to serve my community as a police officer or as a non-uniformed employee of CSUPD is an honorable one, but it should never set me apart from society or the community I serve. I am a member of the public and share the same obligation to comply with the laws I am sworn to uphold.

I will strive to never betray my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will treat all individuals with dignity and respect, and ensure that my actions are dedicated to the safety of my community. I will uphold the highest professional ethical standards, and the values of Colorado State University and the CSU Police Department.
